I woke up at about 4am again. Turned on the TV and watched some Anthony Bourdain Detroit. The show really got me excited to get out of bed and open the window of my 7th story view of sleepy Jakarta. The streets I saw before that were teaming with life are now pretty barren except for some parked Blue Bird taxis. I finished the episode and organized my things for the rest of my trip. I'm here until tomorrow when I leave for Bali. I left the hotel to find coffee and food at a place called phoenam Coffee. I ordered a coffee and what I thought was an egg sandwich. Pretty tasty but not expected the coffee to be that good. Next I went to see the Monas. It was a little underwhelming for some reason. Not exactly sure why. Its about 400 ft tall, with a great park surrounding it. I took some great pictures and sat in the park for a while. Three groups of kids came up to me and asked me a few questions about where I came from and then wanted to take pictures of me. They were all great kids just wanted to practice there English for school I think. Its such a different feeling walking around with everyone staring at you. It seems as if all the women have been very friendly, but about half the men in Jakarta have not been as welcoming. Started walking back to the hotel and saw two motorcycles cash launching a women and her baby who weren't wearing helmets. It was pretty sad seeing the women laying in the street holding the baby crying. Everyone rushed to help them out of the street and then they got back on the bike. Later went found an Indian restaurant and had some awesome pulled tea and an Indian pancake with some bananas. There I men an English guy and a Canadian girl who were traveling together for about 6 months. They were interesting and we talked for about an hour about they're travels. Later for Dinner i found a restaurant and had an amazing dinner and it was about a dollar. Jet lag caught up with me at about 7pm.
