Day 6 1/13/10

Bali is one hour behind Jakarta. Unfortunately I did not know that, so I woke up to the driver of the mini bus pounding on my door. I scrambled to get my things together and hoped I didn't leave anything in the hotel. The bus took about 10 of us about an hour to the dock where ferry's and other types of boats travel to Lombok daily. I took the Ferry for about 5 hours through the middle of a storm which was pretty interesting, considering I have heard these things flip all the time. Once I made it to Lombok I was instantly surrounded by men women and children selling me cold drinks and rice. Luckily I found the bus I was supposed to take to get me to the smaller dock which is about 2 hours away. The bus ride was delayed by a wedding perception in the middle of the street which was a nice surprise. Waited in a small sweaty room for my tiny boat to take me to Gili air. Meeting and trying to get any information I could from other travelers about where they are going and where they have been. The little boat was a nice break from the heat and torment of hawkers. I sat across from a little girl who was absolutely adorable. I think she got a bit freaked out when I took a picture. I found a hotel which is basic but very clean with super friendly staff for about $14 a night. I took a shower and went to find a bite to eat. I ordered some Indonesian food and a few beers and ate right on the beach under a thatched roof in a couch like setting.
